Integrity as a Tool for Building Trust with Communities
Why does law enforcement professionalism not necessarily translate to community trust?
At a time where law enforcement personnel are increasing their levels of professionalism through training, why are they not experiencing concurrent growth in levels of trust with communities?
This program refines the role of the law enforcement professional in a diverse society, provides a new way of understanding communities, and suggests how to use integrity in developing trust. We introduce the Three Culture Model, a tool that has been used successfully with international audiences on five continents. The fundamental premise of the Three Culture Model is to examine how a person sees the world rather than how a person is viewed by the world. The training focuses on advanced skills that will enhance an officers understanding of and ability to work with people from divergent backgrounds, how integrity can be used in the application, and the resulting levels of trust that can be built. This program is P.O.S.T. certified. Tuition is sponsored and travel is reimbursed via P.O.S.T. Plan IV.
