T³: Teens, Teachers & Tolerance

Towards Creating Safe and Inclusive Learning Communities
The Museum of Tolerance offers a unique opportunity to build capacity for community partnerships, as well as conflict and violence prevention on campus and beyond. Through powerful speakers and workshops, the program is an intense leadership development program that engages community stakeholders in dialogue to foster deeper understanding and greater collaboration among them. T³ effectively broadens both the students´ and professionals´ sense of self, immediate community and the larger world. Participants leave the program with enhanced awareness, improved interpersonal skills, and an action plan for implementation and presentation to the wider community after they return home.

How the Program Works

Step 1: School or district leaders consult with Museum staff regarding establishing representative community leadership teams consisting of educators, parents, school resource officers, administrators, counselors, and most importantly, students. We ask organizers to communicate the aims widely and gather information to provide to the Museum on the particular challenges and concerns of the community.

Step 2: We organize a pre-visit video conference to have the teams meet Museum staff, participate in initial activities together, and to identify specific program goals and objectives.

Step 3: We deliver a three-day customized program featuring:
• A specially guided Museum experience
• Dynamic speakers who share critical historical insights
• Facilitated group dialogue in a safe environment
• Skills building workshops led by specialist consultant
• Guided action-planning sessions using PowerPoint in the computer lab

Step 4: We continue our collaboration through the use of additional videoconferencing sessions, outreach through our Speakers Bureau, planning more programs, and celebrating successes!
